Functional Role: Civil Superintendent (on-site)

Scope of Functional Role:

The Civil Superintendent role, will be responsible for overseeing the construction process at the field level on the Project developed by Client, including civil, structural, and electrical contractors.

Responsibilities: 

      • Observe contractor construction means and methods.
      • Coordinate site logistics with EPC contractor on material/equipment deliveries.
      • Review project schedules.
      • Support compliance with contract plans and specifications.
      • Review Company’s Construction Contractor’s safety manuals and programs.
      • Observe EPC contractor’s quality assurance and quality control program.
      • Monitor Project Construction and milestones schedule and confirm with Contractor to assure the Project is being built in conformance with the design plans and specifications.
      • When construction challenges are identified, report them to the Site Representative (Site Manager).
      • Support startup and commissioning activities as needed.
      • Review contractor project close-out documentation (as part of Job Books) with Construction Coordinator and Site Manager and report any discrepancies or inconsistencies to Project Management for further review and remedy determinations.
      • Report all Project Claim Occurrences to the Site Manager.
      • Assist with monitoring and supporting Contractors to assure that the milestones schedule is being completed in accordance with the EPC Agreement and report any delays or discrepancies to Project Management for review and possible remedy determinations in order to meet Commercial Operations, Substantial and Final completion dates.
      • Support coordination with the Landowner(s) through any Crop Damage & Drain Tile issues.

Deliverables:

      • Employee will provide Client with regular written reports as to (a) the Services performed, (b) all health and safety violations, (c) any such other matters as may affect Contractor’s performance of the Services. 

Education/Experience:  

      • Minimum of 5-years experience in Civil construction or related field. 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:  

      • Knowledge of project management principles and practices. 
      • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
      • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
      • Strong communication and presentation skills. 
      • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
      • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
      • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. 

Physical Requirements: 

      • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, including cold, rain, wind, etc.      

Working Conditions: 

      • 100% of the time is spent on site including at construction site office in a commercial/industrial construction environment utilizing computers and construction documentation such as plans, specifications, contracts, schedules, and other project control documents
